About Firmament
Our commitment is always to prioritize the client's needs and mission. We aim to achieve this through a steadfast adherence to our fiduciary duty and ethical principles, while consistently striving to maintain the highest level of competence.
The Meaning Behind Firmament
In antiquity, people believed the sky was an iron dome called the firmament. It offers protection and a high vantage point for the stars.
Ethical, Honest, Highly Competent, Principled, Comprehensive
At Firmament Financial, we always prioritize our clients’ interests above our own and those of the business. When working with high-net-worth families and individuals, we leverage our CPA expertise to design sophisticated tax-minimization strategies and integrate them into comprehensive financial plans. Our founder, Lee Hernandez, is a CFA charterholder — a globally recognized designation earned through a rigorous program in investment management and research and a demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct.
Meet Lee Hernandez
With more than 26 years of experience in finance, I’ve had the privilege of working across wealth management, corporate finance, economic consulting, and investment banking. I’m the founder and owner of Firmament Financial, where I focus on helping individuals and families manage their investments, plan strategically for taxes, and align their financial lives with their values. At Firmament, my goal is simple: to deliver exceptional service to people who live purposefully and want to make a positive impact on the world.
After graduating from Wesleyan University with a BA in economics and international relations in 2000, I went on to earn an MBA with dual concentrations in finance and accounting from Columbia University in 2008.
Beyond my professional work, I’m passionate about giving back to the community. I serve on the boards or advisory boards of several organizations, including The Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, the CFA Society of Nevada, the University of Nevada, Reno Planned Giving Advisory Council, the Rotary Club of Reno South, and the Reno Phil. I’m also actively involved with the charitable efforts of the Knights of Columbus and my family’s parish, St. Rose of Lima in Reno.
Outside of work and volunteer service, I make time for the things that bring me joy—family, friends, and the outdoors. I enjoy mountain biking, running, skiing, and traveling, but I especially treasure unhurried meals with loved ones and the chance to explore new places and connections. For me, life is about balance: using my skills to serve others while making space to create meaningful memories with the people I care about most.
See the Bigger Picture.
